NEWS: TOYOTA AUSTRALIA PLANS TO NORMALISE HYBRID CARS
Driven by innovation, Toyota makes huge plans to expand their Hybrid models in the next two years …
WITH A GOAL TO SELL 1 IN 5 PETROL-ELECTRIC VEHICLES, TOYOTA BELIEVE THEY’LL SELL 42,000 HYBRID CARS BY 2020!
Environmentally friendly cars are becoming more and more common within Australia, as the public increasingly become socially conscious of sustainable living choices.
This growing market has pushed Toyota to increase their Hybrid car production within Australia and strip out commercial vehicles such as the HiLux and HiAce.
The company claims that almost half of their Camry sales in 2018 were Hybrids and an increase in backorders for these models, suggests there is a growing demand.
Toyota Australia’s Vice President of sales and marketing, Sean Hanley believes that this is the direction for the Auto industry, in which the company is prepping themselves for.
Mr Hanley said, “Clearly what we’re seeing is the consideration of hybrids is higher than it was five years ago… clearly, consumers are gravitating towards the idea of hybrid and other technology, it’s the way of the future and Toyota is very well positioned.”
“We aspire to get to 20 percent [hybrid mix] by 2020,” and it’s becoming far more popular for “People [to] want the normality of a normal hybrid."
Concerns have been raised by consumers that the limited availability of electric charging stations across Australia, is creating reluctance towards purchasing these vehicles.
However, there have been reports of Major Infrastructure Development taking place across Australia, turning this major concern into a distant thought.
